"Please, teach me how to kill."

"You know I can't do that."

"You've taught others, why can't you-"

"It's not my place to take the innocence out of your eyes, and to make you a killer."

At the time she asked for my help, we were both young. She came to me on one November night with a look in her eyes. She wasn't angry, vengeful, or depressed; she understood. Those eyes that looked up at me on that day; those eyes with only sixteen years of memories understood the world. She knew that for it to keep going on, ignorant and blissful, required others to sacrifice themselves. She asked me with a strong and determined voice, a voice with reason and logic behind every sentence, for assistance. I was still new to the world at the age of twenty five, but even I knew that she didn't need anyone to teach her how to kill. Those warm white hands could be stained red by her will. I'm sure she knew that at the time. Even though she was still young she had more knowledge than most forty year old pencil pushers. And yet she still wanted my help.

"I choose to live the rest of my life doing this. I know there are other people I can ask but I trust you. If you won't be my teacher, then someone else will be."

She didn't leave immediately. Her brown eyes firmly looked up and waited for my response. A crisp autumn breeze snuck in from the window and brought with it the smell of wet bark.

"Are you prepared to trust my every judgment? To follow my every instruction without questioning my motives? Are you ready to experience horrors? To hear a baby cry as his mother is gunned down before your eyes? I won't lie to you, most nights; you won't be able to sleep."

"That's why I came to you."

The gruff smile that formed on her face told me everything I needed to know. The dark auburn hair which she kept in a ponytail extended the natural beauty of her face to even greater lengths. Outside, rain started to fall.

     "Welcome aboard, Rae."
Rachel Yokomura's back story from my Balthamus universe. I'm sorry to say that it's a long dead concept and I will not be writing anything else in that world. I'll keep uploading material related to it, however, as I dig through these dusty books.

Feedback would be greatly appreciated.
